Investigators Uncover Clinics with Ties To Staged Accidents

May 14, 2010

Undercover agents broke up a ring of at least 55 people with assets relating to staged accidents, insurance fraud and racketeering. Based on what we have heard about widespread fraud in the Tampa Bay area, more investigations and arrests are needed. Personal Injury Protection (PIP) fraud is a huge problem, not just in Tampa Bay, but across the state. UAIC Sponsors Legal Aid Society's "For the Public Good" Event

United Automobile Insurance Company (UAIC) recently participated in the Legal Aid Society's "For the Public Good" fundraising event, held on May 14th at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale. As Vision Circle Sponsors, UAIC donated $2,500 to the organization, which assures that the most vulnerable population of Broward County has a voice in the justice system by providing free legal services to families and children

On April 29, Crestview Elementary School, UAIC's PASS program beneficiary school, hosted the annual South Florida PASS networking session. Participants included all of the PASS principals, PASS CEOs, and the PASS coaches in South Florida, as well as the new CEC Board Chairman, Gene Marshall and Board members Karen Fryd, Jeffrey Miller, and Steve Wasserman.

United Auto Insurance Company Recognized for Generosity to Boys' Town of Italy

Richard Parrillo Sr., founder and Chairman of United Automobile Insurance Group was recently given special recognition as a longtime benefactor to the Boys' Town. Recently, Parrillo donated $10,000 to the organization, and was recently recognized at the Boys' Town's Florida Committee annual event, the "Gran Ballo", at the Biltmore Hotel Country Club in Coral Springs, Fl. This year marked the 65th Anniversary of the organizations' founding.

UAIC joins with LEO Foundation and the Miami-Dade County Association of Chiefs of Police to Honor Law Enforcement

United Automobile Insurance Company (UAIC) recently teamed with the Miami-Dade police department to honor members of Miami-Dade County law enforcement from municipal, county, state and federal agencies at the Ninth Annual Law Enforcement Officers Gala. The event took place at the Fontainebleau Hotel on March 6, 2010 and drew more than 900 people guests and honorees. Officers from all over Miami-Dade County were honored in categories like Uniform Services, Safety, Specialized Services, Support Services, Investigative Services, Federal Agent of the Year, Task Force of the Year, and State and Federal Prosecutor of the Year.

North Miami Police Fake Insurance Card Sweep

On November 24th, 2009 the North Miami Beach Police Department in conjunction with the NICB Florida Medical Fraud Task Force conducted for the first time in its history a fake insurance card traffic check. Due in part to economic times, it was deemed by the North Miami Beach Police that drivers on the road with no car insurance pose a real threat to the public at large in the event of an accident, negatively impacting both the legitimate insured as well as the member companies.

This operation was a collaborated effort between the North Miami Beach Police Department, NICB, and the (19) member companies that participated in this operation which were State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, 21st Century, GMAC, MetLife, United Auto, Infinity Insurance, Seminole Insurance, Geico, Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, Titan, Victoria, Depositors, Allied, Unitrin Direct, Star Casualty and Mercury Insurance & (1) Non Member RAC Insurance.

This operation netted (5) arrests and over 60 traffic citations in a span of several hours. Thanks to the collaborated efforts of all involved the North Miami Beach Police Department plans on repeating this operation in the coming year.

The 22nd Annual William Slaughter/Levine Golf Tournament, benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County was a swinging success! The event took place at the Woodlands Country Club in Tamarac on March 28th and featured a shotgun start, buffet lunch, on-course refreshments and silent and live auction. The tournament was a sell-out event, raising more than $235,000.00 for the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County.

Miss Miami Gardens 2008 Scholarship Pageant

Miss Miami Gardens 2008 Scholarship Pageant was held on March 23rd at Florida Memorial University in Miami. The annual event promotes higher educational goals by awarding a partial scholarship to the winner. Contestants competed in several categories including talent and civic involvement. Additionally, the winner will go on to compete in the Miss Florida Pageant. Miami Gardens is the new home of UAIC's headquarters.

The 3rd Annual Jazz in the Gardens at Dolphin Stadium

Miami Gardens' signature music event, took place at Dolphin Stadium on March 15-16. The event, co-sponsored by UAIG, featured both contemporary artists such as Kem and Wyclef Jean, as well as some classic performers such as Nancy Wilson and the O'Jays. The event spanned over two days and included food, shopping and entertainment.

The annual event was held at the Fort Lauderdale Signature Grand and featured music, food and entertainment. The event hosted more than 1000 guests and raised $100,000. The event benefited the Boys and Girls YET Center of Fort Lauderdale.

St. Jude Shoot Out Charity Golf Tournament

February 16, 2007

United Auto sponsored the 2007 St. Jude Shoot Out charity golf tournament, dinner and auction at the Woodlands Country Club in Tamarac. The event, hosted by Bo Jackson and United Auto executive vice president Beau Parrillo, raised a record $500,000 in support of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and its fight against cancer and other diseases. Mr. Parrillo announced that the company will double its signature sponsorship to $100,000 next year and offer St. Jude patients access to the United Auto Insurance Group aircraft for transportation to the hospital in Memphis.

Presidents' Fest in the Park

United Auto hosted more than 1,500 children from JAFCO, ChildNet, Boys & Girls Club, and Kids In Distress to enjoy the 2007 Presidents' Fest in the Park. For 15 years, Presidents' Fest has been a community celebration that thousands of South Florida residents enjoy. This is the second consecutive year that United Auto has sponsored this event.

Miami Children's Hospital Holiday Party

United Auto spread holiday cheer at Miami Children's Hospital with a party for sickle cell anemia patients. United Auto employees collected hundreds of presents through a gift drive and distributed the gifts to many smiling faces at the party.

Miami Children's Hospital - Child Safety Seat Check Station

May, 2006

United Automobile Insurance Group teamed up with Miami Children's Hospital to provide one of the only indoor Child Safety Seat Check stations in the country. The program, which operates year round, teaches parents how to choose the right child seat, how to install the seat and how to position the child properly. United Auto covers most of the program's costs, including equipment and staffing. The company has also donated hundreds of safety seats to local parents.
